SUMMARY:Our Patron Saints
DESCRIPTION:A talk by Prof Bill Tamblyn at St. Stephen’s\, Great Wigborough. but see note below. \n.\nBackground: Who were St Stephen and St Mary and why were they honoured locally?\n.\nSt Stephen (Great Wigborough church) is an onteresting one – linked to Bill’s first topic idea (Jesus teaching in the countryside)\, St Stephen took Jesus’ suspicions of traditional worship in the Temple to heart\, and he too taught in the open air.\n.\nSt Mary (Peldon church) – well\, which one do we mean: The mother of Jesus as in the New Testament\, or the Mary – a cult figure in the 19th century which led to ”Mary worship’ and supplanted ‘Jesus worship’ in many Roman Catholic countries in the 20th century.\n.\nNOTE.  IT IS HOPED THAT THIS TALK CAN BE AT St STEPHEN’S. More information on this will follow.\n \n
