Within the Friends it was hoped that this could be repaired & restored to English Heritage specifications, and that a catch and handle be fitted.
At the 2016 Friends AGM the meeting discussed the possibility of having the door removed and displayed separately, and a bespoke replacement door made and installed.
As of March 2017 the Diocesan Advisory Committee has insisted that the original door is repaired and remains. The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is currently in discussion with Heritage England to see if a second visit is required. Only then could the PCC complete a full faculty application.
