Since formation in 2006 the Friends has:
- helped raise £10,000 to rebuild the internal structure of the Tower (of which £3,000 was raised by ‘Sponsor-a-step’);
- removed the window guards, which were staining the stonework;
- added new heating and lighting (£10,000 raised by the Friends + a £15,000 grant from a local business);
- removed the rotting pews and replaced with 40 wooden chairs and 80 folding chairs (with local support from ‘Sponsor-a-chair’), the total cost being £6,000;
- provided £25,000 towards the North Porch project.
The Friends has established itself the promoter of the Village Festival, a major fundraiser with a Féte on day 1 and a Fun Day based at the church on day 2. Throughout the year the Friends hold various history talks, concerts, feasts, theme nights and other activities. All this needs guidance and advice from the committee, which has lost two members due to illness, but the activities must continue. Will you join the committee?
There are occasional meetings, but most communication is by e-mail. Some committee members help on the day/evening of an event, but it’s not a requirement.
