This year it was held at Pete Tye Farm. The setting was an English country garden, a safe distance from the road with ample parking, and a host of attractions, stalls, entertainment and food and drink on offer.
Even though it was grey and breezy early on, this didn’t dampen the spirits of the crowds who flocked in. And what a fun-filled occasion it was.
One of the main attractions was a New York Fire Truck which had served at Ground Zero, with experts on hand, uniforms to try out, and bells to ring!
For the children there was a bouncy castle, animal enclosure, activity tent, Face Painting, large play area, swings, a street organ, and a Punch and Judy Show.
Vendors and stalls included locally-produced ice cream, hand-made chocolates, garden ornaments, coconut shy, tombola, plants, books, shabby chic, and bric-a-brac.
And there was plenty for the tastebuds – a barbecue with burgers and hot dogs, light lunches, afternoon tea and cake, cream teas, and a bar with draft beer, Pimms and other drinks.
Also tickets for the Peldon Grand Draw were available with the draw taking place there, watched by a good crowd of expectant ticket holders.
We would like to thank everyone involved before, during and after the event. Whether you donated something, did one job or did a host of things, thank you so much for your commitment and hard work. Particular thanks go to our hosts, Jan and Eric Coan, who provided the wonderful setting and took part in much of the planning, organisation, food and kitchen arrangements, site preparation, signage etc., and provided the well-loved animals.
And a big Thank You to the local and not-so-local community for a great turn-out. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did (even though many of us were shattered soon after the start!). We are delighted to report an overall profit of £2,700.
