Background: There would be something on the rural background to the New Testament teachings. Jesus Christ is invariably found teaching in the open air (he was not approved as a preacher in the Temple, though he was a qualified Rabbi) – and he uses countryside references so often, and one suspects that his followers during his three years preaching were country people – very much like us.
